Our aim is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment where children
can learn through a wide variety of play. Our emphasis is on an all-round
development with respect for each child’s individual needs. With a happy and
relaxed atmosphere and good supervision your child will be able to develop their
social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs, encouraging your child to be
independent and responsible.
Whilst at Merry Days the children will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. The
foundation stage covers the child’s development from their third birthday to the
end of the Reception year.
The Early Years Foundation Stage has been organized into seven areas of learning
known as the Early Learning Goals
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Communication, language
• Mathematics
• Understanding of the world
• Physical development
• Expressive Arts and Design
• Literacy
By the end of the Reception year most of the children will have achieved the early
learning goals. Some children will have exceeded expectations whilst others may
be working towards some or all of the goals - particularly younger children, those
with special educational needs and those learning English as an additional
language.
Included are many different activities each day such as painting, cutting and
sticking, play dough, sand/water, home corner, construction toys, puzzles, musical
instruments, climbing and balancing, book corner, dressing-up, drawing/prewriting
area etc. There are also organized activities, group work, games, story time
and singing. A snack bar with healthy fresh fruit, milk and water is available for the
children to access throughout every session.
